The Tse Daa K'aan Chapter is named after a stunning sandstone rock formation called the "Hogback". The Navajo name is Tse'daak' aan meaning "rock ground(ed) into the water" in reference to the gap created by the San Juan River Dissecting the Hogback. Tse Daa K'aan area is an agricultural community which area farmers grow corn that is used in common traditional foods such as the kneel down bread, steamed corn and a variety of Indian melons.
